Ozwald Boateng is a widely acclaimed self-taught tailor who introduced a new generation of tailoring to Savile Row with the use of bright colours and the finest silk materials. He was the first tailor to stage a catwalk show in Paris and has wide range of celebrity clients including Jonathan Ross, Laurence Fishburne, Samuel L. Jackson, Keanu Reeves and Jamie Fox.
He first learnt to tailor whilst studying at Southwark College and expanded his gift for designing clothes using his mother's old sewing machine. At 16 he sold his first collection to a menswear shop in Covent Garden, and by the time he was 23 he had set himself up full-time in business.
In 2002 Ozwald Boateng opened his flagship store in Savile Row, Westminster. In 2006 ha was awarded an OBE for his contribution to the tailoring industry.
His much sought-after bespoke tailoring prompted his appointment in 2007 to the Mayor of London Skills and Employment Board. In the same year he was also recognised by the World Economic Forum as a young global leader. Ozwald's other interests include his passion for film and cinematography which has inspired him to write and direct over ten short films.
