There appears to be no one reliable source of information locally, regionally, and nationally on the number and characteristics of ethnic minority businesses in the UK so as part of its mission B.I.N is therefore keen to gain a deeper understanding of the attitudes and information needs of this sector, and continued research is required to meet this need.
B.I.N also endeavours to explore the posture of ethnic minority small businesses towards employment relationships, their preferred information sources, and the greater potential for B.I.N to offer continued online business support and educational services to this area.
One of the reasons for B.I.N’s existence is there are few consistent, up-to-date statistics on the make-up of ethnic minority businesses in the UK and to give credence to B.I.N ethos, equality and diversity issues are high profile initiatives as well as its operational e-learning delivery, a key policy objective while diversifying into the SME area has likewise been made a priority.
